Bar/Bat Mitzvahs

Reaching the age of bar or bat mitzvah signifies becoming a full-fledged member of the Jewish community with the responsibilities that come with it. Bar and Bat Mitzvahs are a celebration of life and adulthood within the Jewish culture.

Planning a Bar/Bat Mitzvah is an exciting and joyful time. Many young adults decide to proclaim a specific theme for their celebration in order to keep one’s individuality. Unlike birthday parties, these events are still considered formal so the idea of planning something extravagant is required.

These events can sometimes even compare to a wedding with all the time and money that is put into making the day as special as possible. Bar and Bat mitzvahs are colorful events not only because of the themes but because of the family tradition that accompanies the event.

Three ways that Pinterest can help you plan your wedding…

Pinterest is a fairly new social media site that has recently gained many users and attention. It is like we are back in 2008 when a little social media site called Facebook rocketed to popularity. Pinterest is a website used to post “pins” or pictures and links to different topics people are interested in. Hence the name PINTEREST.

So how can this be used to plan your perfect wedding? Well it can in in these ways…

#1. Pinterest users can search and look for certain categories of interest such as, surprise surprise, Weddings and Events.

#2. Users can also choose to post their own “pins” in what they call “boards.” These can be categorized in specific themes. At Party in a Package, we have a board themed Unique Color Combinations, which you can use to explore what colors look best together.  (Look for our pins at Party in a Package) :)

#3. Pinterest is a great way for brides to share their own unique ideas. You can find money saving tricks through the site but you are seeing what can be done with the pictures posted.

Overall Pinterest is a great new way for brides to gain ideas. Make sure to take advantage of the great possibilities that can be explored through this website!

Flowers, what will you be seeing ?

Spring : Again this year of 2013 we are seeing a very strong vintage theme.  Tim of Timothy’s Florals, located at 207 West Benson , Reading, Ohio, says he is providing hand tied  bouquets with lace, fabric and ribbon incorporated.  One tone bouquets, or even extreme bright colors will be seen. We love the classic and clean look of of yellow and white flowers. Floral and interior designer Rebecca Cole, author of Flower Power, co-host of Discovery Channel’s Surprise by Design and a regular contributor to the Today show, says, “Wedding flowers follow fashion trends,” Cole said, “and today, individuality, rather than convention is in style. No longer do the bridesmaids’ bouquets need to match the bridal bouquet, the boutonnieres and centerpieces.” In some cases, each bridesmaid may have a different bouquet, according to Cole.

3 hidden but pricey wedding costs

Every bride likes to work with a budget. We all work to make the most beautiful wedding for a reasonable price. Sometimes there are costs that force us to go with less than what we want. There are many hidden costs many brides to plan into a budget: shipping costs, photo/video overtime, and rental transportation.

Decorating a wedding on your own time and dime requires most to shop online. Buying in bulk is definitely the only way to go, but getting the items shipped, PRICEY!

Sometimes the party just gets too exciting and fun, so you want the photographer to stay to capture those candid moments. It is a valid request but we often times forget that overtime is most expensive. Instead of paying for a time slot, you are paying for the extra hours that were unplanned, photographers expect compensation, PRICEY!

Renting tables, linens, chairs, or other decor can be cost effective when you need to make a place look extraordinary. And no one wants to buy all these items, who needs to own twenty low-top 5 foot round tables? What you need to look out for is how all of these decorative extras are getting to your venue. Transportation fees, PRICEY!

Make sure when working on your budget that you factor in these small but pricey details. You want to make sure you can afford what you are looking at, total cost!
